What colours can i wear to my yr12 formal?

I already have a suit and a black shirt but i can't decide on what colours are good for a vest and tie. I was thinking a bold white or a champagne gold whereas my friends and family think a purple or a aqua (which would go good with my eyes.) Im 5 foot 7, dark brown hair with an athletic build. Im also the leaving school captain so a lasting impression is a must. I need that sexy look. lol
